Hi everyone!
Where to begin? I am in my 8th week as an Administrative Fellow at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. I spent the first month or so meeting key organizational leaders and sitting in on various meetings. This place is enormous and it has taken me a while to start feeling comfortable with how things work.
Now, I am about to start my first rotation, which will be with Finance. It's budget season so it should be interesting (for real, I kind of like finance). I'm also working on developing a scorecard that will allow us to track our organizational goals and metrics at the unit level(right now we are tracking them for the organization as a whole).
Do any of you know how your organization tracks the licensure/certification status of staff? My preceptor has a friend at another hospital whose license expired and neither he nor his manager realized it until it was too late, which meant bad things for the hospital. Now I am looking at how different departments at Beaumont keep track of when people's licenses are up for renewal to make sure nobody falls through the cracks. It's a pretty decentralized system so there is lots of room for improvement. If any of your organizations have a particularly good method for doing this I'd be interested to hear about it.
Since I am still in Michigan, I will definitely be attending the JRG event and would love to see you all then!
Hope to hear from more of you soon :)
Are you talking about physician license. I am pretty sure Munson and UTMB both have individuals whose sole job is to ensure proper licensing for the physician staff.
